EDM 11 - Draw Your Glasses

I like my glasses but I usually wear contacts. Micron pen with watercolor. I bought one of those "water pens" that has the water in the barrel, and used it for this drawing. I think I prefer a regular brush and water, I was trying to find something that I could take with me that would be more convenient, though. I don't like that you can't really get a good wash with it, at least not the one I bought. It's good for details, though (although you couldn't tell that from looking at my sloppy mess).

EDM 10 -- Draw Your Hand

This one was easy. I love drawing hands and feet. Micron pen on Canson sketch paper, colored in Photoshop.

Chocolates

I got chocolates for my birthday. Micron pen on Canson paper, colored in Photoshop.

EDM 9 - Draw Some Organized Chaos

This is just a small portion of my painting desk, where I paint miniature horse sculptures. I wish I could be more organized. I spend half my time looking for tools.

EDM 8 - Draw a Watch

This was another hard one for me, at least it was hard to get a sense of depth. Black Pilot pen with color in Photoshop. (I need to get a new waterproof pen).

Cats

Here's a pencil sketch I did of my cats for illustration practice. I like the sketch better than the finished work, of course.

TV Head

I don't normally do gestures in pen, but I'm trying to move outside my comfort zone a little bit.

Self Portrait Saturday

I used to draw a lot of self portraits, but somehow got out of the habit of it. I was afraid I would get my face really distorted, that happens a lot, but this is pretty representative of what I look like, messy hair and all.

EDM 6 - Draw a Favorite Item from Childhood

A plastic Breyer model horse from my childhood. I still play with them!

EDM 5 - Draw Your Bed (in 3 parts)

I have been putting off drawing this EDM because I knew I would have difficulty with it, and I was right. My bed is gigantic, and it takes up most of the room that it's in, so I knew I wouldn't be able to stand far enough back to get a good view of the whole thing. On top of that, I had no desire whatsoever to draw a bed, so I really had to push myself to do this one. This was my first try, just the headboard with a little lamp attached to it. The proportions are all wrong and it doesn't look anything like the headboard, so I tried again:
This time I tried for a side view, but the damn bed is so immense I just couldn't draw it smaller! Look how I screwed up the proportions of the headboard on the right, compared to the left footboard. I just couldn't get into this. Finally, I decided to just draw a bed from my imagination, which I'm much happier with:
Many times my imagination is better than reality anyway!

Gestures

I'm sad today because of some news I read at one of my favorite blogs, Learning Daily. This blogger is a true inspiration and I have loved looking at her drawings over the years.

Carburetor

My husband always has car parts laying around, here's the latest project. I've done several paintings of car parts over the years, I find the intricacy of the parts really interesting and challenging for me visually. Unfortunately, most people don't want to buy a still life of a Ford 9-inch rear end!

EDM 4 - Draw Your Mug or Cup

This is my favorite coffee cup because it only holds 6 oz. You can't find this size in stores anymore, all they have are gigantic mugs, and I happen to like my coffee hot, thank you. I can't drink a half gallon of coffee fast enough to keep it hot, so I prefer this tiny little cup.

Maybe with the bad economy, the mugs will start to get smaller.

EDM 191 - Draw Some Paper Money
